Cassel’s a guy with problems, but thankfully, he’s a guy and he’s not angsty. His mom is a con woman and just out of jail, but more importantly, when the definition of nutjob is in the dictionary, there’s her picture. Also, his big brother the mobster, has just been murdered. The FBI want him to inform on the mobster families, and the headguy mobster gives him a Mercedes sports car. His girlfriend Lila has been curseworked to love him, so he avoids her, so he’s not taking advantage of her. His other brother has been lying to him for years, so he rewrites his life, and betrays him. He’s really trying to be a good guy, he’s still in high school and sometimes he attends classes, does his homework, and pays attention there. His classmates only know him as the school bookie. I’m glad I read this and hope that Holly Black’s next book in this series comes out next week. Or sooner.
