A quick, entertaining and light-hearted novella following the adventures of the human Cori after Earth is invaded. Cori has been trafficked as a slave, but her less than subservient behaviour has earned her a one-way ticket to the auction block where other aliens can purchase her. Zeph, a cat alien who is passing by, is intrigued by Cori and decides to buy her himself, in order to then free her. But some misplaced catnip ensures that their relationship deepens a lot quicker than it should.

I have to say that while I enjoyed this story, I'm not a huge fan of relationships between humans/non-humans -- but if you are you'd probably like it. The plot moves along quickly and the characters are engaging.
