The second in the Kita series sees Kita still not fully reconciled to being a vampire and hoping for the return of her shifter abilities. But danger is still stalking her when she finds a headless corpse in the middle of a vampire party, a party given to welcome the head of a distant city. The discovery plunges Kita and Nathaniel deeper into vampire politics and garners the attention of an ancient vampire who would like to add Kita to her "collection" Trying to understand her now shape-shifterless state and her growing attraction to Nathaniel, she also finds herself deep in magical debt to a necromancer who traded the favor to her for trying to find out if she accidentally turned any other of the men who attacked her months ago.
