it was amazing
bookshelves: 2008, read-for-school, own

wildly important account of why humans enter into society. Locke argues that our goal is freedom; however to best actualize that freedom we must enter into a society where we give up some freedom for protection. For example, how can I be free to make a living if everyone else is free to kill me or steal from me at will. fascinating and well worth the effort although I probably never would have read it if not for school.
