The V Girl: a Coming of Age Story

This book was so many things, very rarely do I find myself reading dystopian novels but the premise of this piqued my curiosity.
The story revolves around Lila, who lives in a world torn apart by war and has adapted a law system that's as corrupt as they come, making rape legal and recruiting women, men, boys and girls to satisfy the disgusting needs of these so called soldiers. Mind you, these soldiers have been genetically enhanced to become weapons, so they're bigger, stronger and horrifyingly brutal, finding pleasure in the act of rape.
You come to discover that Lila is a virgin and her ultimate fear is being raped once she's recruited. Her mission is to "pop her cherry" before recruitment to save herself the pain and torment of having it popped unwillingly.
She finds herself in a love triangle with two potential "poppers", the first being her best friend and the second, a military man turned cop who she fears is just like every other soldier, but can't seem to turn off the attraction she has to him.
This story had extremely graphic moments that were so unimaginable it was almost too much to read through, but...being a sucker for a good love story I continued on and am glad I did.
The electricity between Lila and Aleksey was super charged and had me constantly at the edge of my seat like a greedy kid wanting more. Although many times when I was convinced that something was going to go down and didn't I found myself irritated by the constant teasing Robarts was doing. But, all good things come to those who wait and I must say, I can be quite impatient.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I found that certain parts were very repetitive however. Lila's fear for example was brought up time after time and I understand it was to drive home the point that this is her ultimate fear and her world would officially be over if it happened, but I found it to be a little too much. Apart from that, I thought it was a very heart wrenching, yet exciting read.
Team Aleksey all the way baby!
