3.5 stars. This is the first thing I ever read by J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts and I'm pleasantly surprised. Set in NY in the future, detective Eve Dallas is a detective. She is called in on a high profile case. There are many public figures putting the pressure on her to solve it. Along the way she must deal with her past and a charming suspect.

I liked the characters and I am curious what will become of some of the other characters that were introduced- like the male "escort". I almost wish the couple hadn't gotten together in this first book. I'm a little uncertain of what made them zing, because she comes across a little cold at the beginning.

The mystery is interesting. I reminds me a good episode of Castle only set in the time of Firefly. (I may have decided that the leading man is Nathan Fillion-esque despite the accent). Anyway, I'm in, and I look forward to reading the next 30 or so books!

The Flooze Mmmmm. Captain Tightpants...

;)

Tara Yummy! I do love him. I was working on Hamlet back in October and November and during rehearsal one day the guy playing Hamlet was in his jeans and his black t-shirt and big leather gloves (for the foil fight) and he said I feel like Captain Hammer, and then he sang a little, and then he became my favorite person. I also realized there were far to many people that didn't get the reference!

The Flooze That's awesome!

Yes, there are far too many people who've never seen or heard of Dr. Horrible. There aren't enough Whedon fanatics out there. Sad.
