Grant Morrison attempts to create the Platonic Ideal of the Superman storyand comes away with a really good tale that may not be exactly what he planned, but is entertaining and tells us a lot about how the world would view such a man. Moreover, Morrison gives us a good look at part of what makes Superman so unrelatable for may comics fans: he is a genuinely good character. Even in the face of certain doom, he puts his sights on others first - a bitter reminder to those of us who cling to our cynicism to keep us warm at night.
