really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction, western

I saw the new movie and wondered about the book as I heard the movie closely followed it. I was not disappointed the movie did in fact mirror the book closely. It was hard to tell if the author intended the book to be as humorous as it was or if he had intended to write a serious story.

Harry Jeffrey I saw the old version of the movie and loved it! I did not know it was a book

Teresa Garrett The book came out in about 1968?? The author was born in El Dorado! It is pretty funny. The new movie is very true to the book. You might enjoy the book if you can find it. I had a hard time finding it when the new movie came out. May be easier now. I thought the new movie was way better than the John Wayne version. (It was a little gory though.)
