it was amazing
bookshelves: my-ultimate-favourites, made-me-cry

This novel has been one of the best reads of 2016 for me.
I loved each and every moment of this book. The author is an amazing craftsman, really good at his job. The subtle yet engaging imagery kept me awake all the time. I was drawn into the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner and the rest of the characters. Every character had the right amount of purpose and space. I felt for every character. The setting being the gut-wrenching WW II, made the novel very emotional for me. And though the chapters were surprising small in length (avg. 1.5 pages), I had to take breaks in between to bring my mind out of the setting. When I would take the break and stroll out of the room, my mum would ask if I'm alright. That is how much this novel affected me.
Another point I will add here is, to me, the novel also had the elements of thriller genre. From the start to finish I was on the edge on my seat, connecting the dots and worrying what will happen next.
And yes it's a MUST READ!
