I really, really liked this book. I love the unlikelihood of finding a heroine in a cracked out homeless girl - a heroine that, while knowingly making horrible decisions and being completely damaged, was absolutely relatable.

There were parts that were hard to read but I couldn't put it down. I was impressed that Val's spiral into crazy town took me right with her instead of losing me and leaving me rolling my eyes.

I actually enjoyed this book more than Tithe and Ironside. The character development was spot on, where I missed that in Black's books 1 & 3 of the series. I'm still thinking about Val, and how she WAS valiant, even through her self imposed, sick situation.
