Another one year in our world and exactly three years in Narnia since Caspian’s coronation, Edmund and Lucy were sent back to join Caspian in his journey in a small ship called The Dawn Treader to find his father’s friends who Miraz had ‘sent away’ to explore the unknown eastern seas beyond Long Islands. But this time they accidently brought their cousin with them. Eustace Clarence Scrub was a practical boy who’s fond of facts and science and hated ‘fairy tales’ like Narnia. Together they sailed to find the seven lords to the unknown world’s end.

There’s more adventures in this book than most other Narnia books and it’s a bit different since it sets on a ship or a strange magical islands, not exactly in Narnia. And it’s the first time another child other than the Pevensies come to Narnia though it’s originally an accident. I think Eustace is the most interesting character in this book. Sure, he’s unbearable at first, complaining about everything and blame everyone except of himself about everything. And his journals was just.. well, childish. But his different point of views made the story more colorful and exciting. Somehow he’s kind of remind me of uncle Andrew in The Magician's Nephew. I kind of disappointed that Eustace was kind of ‘disappear’ after he met Aslan. There’s also interesting fact in this book. Narnia is a flat world, not round like ours. And Caspian made a pretty hilarious comment when he learned that our world is round:
“Do you mean to say,” asked Caspian, “that you three come from a round world (round like a ball) and you’ve never told me! It’s really too bad of you. Because we have fairy-tales in which there are round worlds and I always loved them. I never believed there were any real ones. But I’ve always wished there were and I’ve always longed to live in one. Oh, I’d give anything—I wonder why you can get into our world and we never get into yours? If only I had the chance! It must be exciting to live on a thing like a ball. Have you ever been to the parts where people walk about upside-down?”
