This wasn't your best, was it Chuck? The problem with haunted is that it had so much press because of the vivid and horrifying grossness of the first short story, which made people of weak dispositions in America faint and vomit and make a big to-do about it all. And yes, the story - Guts - is gross. I'd read it already before I started this book and so I knew what to expect, but if you can get past that one (and I didn't have a problem with it) none of the others in the book as as gruesome, I promise.

The framework surrounding this story of a bunch of people locked in an old theatre is ok, but to be honest I think that these are clever and inventive enough to have stood by themselves without all the un-needed Canterbury Tales framework.

I think my favourite story was the one told by Lady Baglady, which I won't spoil for you here, but there are many gems in this collection - as long as you can pick your way through the framework without becoming too annoyed.
