I'm really glad that this book was written; I think that it is important as a piece of a larger medical history. It was interesting to read because, while patient memoirs have really taken off in recent years, there really isn't much out there to document the histories and lives of people who have had lobotomies, or were institutionalized, for that matter. (I would love to learn more about conditions in state hospitals leading up to deinstitutionalization) The book also gives you a lot to think about as far as treating mental health issues in children and adolescents.
