really liked it
bookshelves: historical

Another 20 year-gap re-read. The Horseman Riding By series is probably a bit better than the author's Swann Saga trilogy. Not much, but it has less of the lengthy, repetitive expository meditations on whatever was itching the author at the moment. A little lacking in plot-interest compared to the other, but plenty there to keep one reading. A classic '60s family saga set in rural England in the early 20th century, although it feels like it was written earlier.
