The Odyssey written by Homer is about Greek gods and humans about their afterlive of the battle of Troy. The main character Odysseus is now trying to battle his way back home, to regain his normal life. As he tries to do so he encouters many difficulties. Odysseus left behind him before the battle of Troy a loving wife and son . As the two back home don't know when and if their father and husband is coming back ; a bunch of young men want to marry Odyssesus wife. Will Odysseus find his way back home with the help of some gods and goddesses or will his life end without him looking at this wife ever again? Read to find out.

In this book i would be friends with Athena because she helped Odysseus.

The book itself is pretty intresting , but it contains a lot of characters and sometimes the english is a little old making it hard to understand . All in all i like it so far.

Ms Piot Good review! You are bringing back memories for me!

I read this book when I was in 9th grade - our teacher - Mr. Buckman was his name! - had assigned us to pick a book and read it, and he'd discuss it with us, one-on-one, a little bit at a time... I chose this one, because it was just an old book on my father's book case, but it had this old fashioned leather cover on it, like a book that must be really old... so I chose it.

My teacher was surprised that I'd picked it, and to be honest, once I started, I also found the language very difficult, and I wondered what I'd gotten myself into! But...there was this line that captured my imagination.....

"When the child of morning, rosy-fingered Dawn, appeared, we admired the island and wandered all over it,..."

...That image of "rosy fingered dawn" has stayed with me my entire life....sometimes when I look at the sky early in the morning, on the way to work, I think of it...and the day seems suddenly magical and fresh...

The Odyssey was one of my favorite books of all time!

I also like that you talked about all of the suitors waiting on Odysseus' wife! That's a part of the story I'd forgotten and is sure to get others interested in the story too!
