Oh wow, what an intense and immersive experience this was! This was the year I wanted to finally read something by Sarah Waters and I'm so glad I did. An incredible book, I could not put it down, even though it's rather grim throughout. Amazing writing and plot, beautiful complex characters, it kept me on edge throughout as I could not for the life of me see how it would play out. It helped that I went in blind, the only thing I knew about the book was that the protagonist is a thief. Highly recommended!
