not my favorite novel about dogs (see "art of racing in the rain"), but this was endearing and fun to read.

it's books like this that remind you how awesome dogs are, and how great it is to have them around. i'm not being hyperbolic when i say that dogs hold the key to salvation for the world-- their unconditional love and loyalty, purity of emotions, and ability to sense emotional complexity around them are all valuable traits we can learn from them in our quest through life, and this book's a touching reminder of that.
