I think the most frightening part of this book is the plot which may be what the future of our country will be like if we keep privatizing everything to major corporations. Enough of politics, even though you will get your dose of it in this one! A scary dose. But it's not about blood, guts and gore, it's about survival in a world dependent on money.
For me the build-up of the characters seemed a bit slow (personal preference here with stories) but the payoff is worth it. There is one main family the story is centered around and you get to see how different choices lead to very different endings. And sometimes it just isn't your choice at all.
This isn't going to be your typical horror book, but one that reaches out and makes you rethink about life now and in the future. The ending, which I won't give away, leaves room for personal interpretation. Enough said before I give spoilers.
