Hooper fills a bit of a gap in the professional literature with this book. His writing can be too consciously academic at some points, but he covers all the major points of writing a good book review for such outlets as Library Journal and Booklist in this short work. It seems pretty clear to me that this book is aimed at librarians interested in reviewing popular works for professional journals and other more established publications. If that is where your interests lie, then this is a very helpful publication. If you are writing reviews for a public library readers' advisory blog, a very short and practical list of things to keep in mind when writing a review is available at http://www.well.com/user/ladyhawk/boo....
