really liked it

I learned this book that showed me a side of history that I had never heard before... black settlers staking claims to own land in the Badlands of the Dakotas in the 1930's. It was a tough time, in the Dust Bowl era, and called for tough people. It's written from the point of view of a pregnant mother of several young mouthes to feed and care for, and though I was afraid to read on for what I might find, I found I couldn't put it down. This book was very well written and I read it in just a few days.
