“He’d won. That bastard was dead and he’d still won.”

5 BRILLIANTLY COMPOSED AND INTRICATELY WOVEN STARS...

This review is going to be different from the ones that I usually write, and it’s for a very good reason. This review needs to be totally and completely spoiler free! No clues, hints, or even basic plot references will be included. This book needs to experienced the way it was meant to be, without bias and with a totally open mind. Out of Time is the sequel to Nine Minutes by the uber talented Beth Flynn. She’s promised us readers answers to many of the burning questions we were all left with after finishing book 1, and HOLY HANNAH does she deliver…

“The world was rotten and so was everybody in it.”

Nine Minutes was a total roller coaster for me when I read it, and Out of Time is no less shocking, thought provoking, and powerful. Beth Flynn has once again crafted a meticulous story that not only engages the reader, but she’s also created characters that you love and love to hate at the same time. I mean HELLO, Grizz, Tommy, Moe, Jan, Blue, these characters are so incredibly flawed and damaged that it’s almost painful to spend any amount of time in their heads, hearing their thoughts and memories are, at times, cringe worthy. That being said, these characters have had the most inconceivably horrendous things happen to them both in the past and even in the present. It becomes crystal clear over the course of this boo, why they are the way they are. We get insights into the past, we spend time in the present, all while trying to unravel this unique and gripping story. Out of Time is incredibly complicated and complex, it may be the most intricate story I have ever read, and I’ve read some total mind f***s in the past. Flynn proves with Out of Time that she is here to stay; she has a gift for not only drawing a reader, but holding them captive, until they’ve devoured and agonized over every last word. Her writing is flawless and this story is so incredibly well-crafted it’s impossible not to become totally mesmerized by it.

“He’d deceived her. They had all deceived her. Her life was a lie.”
