This is a new series by D.J. MacHale, the author of the Pendragon series. I understand that Pendrgaon has quite a following but I have not yet read it. I thought I'd give this one a try and I am glad I did. It was scary but not so bad that I slept with the light on, lol!

Marsh is all set to start another super-fun summer with his best friend Cooper when things start to go very wrong. First, he and Coop get into a fight and Cooper leaves for the lake with his folks without saying goodbye to Marsh. Marsh is home alone while his dad is off at a convention in Vegas when weird things start happening to hjm. Marsh hears people talking when no one is there and he suddenly starts seeing a monster of his own imagination come to threaten him in his own house. With no adult at home, Marsh calls to the lake to talk to Cooper only to learn that Cooper has gone missing. And the weird stuff only gets weirder...

Not a bad story. I liked Marsh and I liked Sidney, Coop's sister. I also thought the epilogue was a definite plus, as it seems the next book in the series will be told by Cooper. I'm looking forward to it!
