really liked it
bookshelves: classics, plays

In terms of language and style, Romeo and Juliet might possibly be the best of all Shakespeare's work. It's crammed full of some of the most beautiful poetry I've ever had the pleasure of reading. But the story of lust-filled teens sacrificing themselves because of an extreme burst of instalove? Never really been my cup of tea.

Precious Sagbodje Which Shakespeare would you recommend for a first timer?

Macbeth or Othello :)

Jacquelyn Think of it this way: Shakespeare was trying to put some reality in the face of the notion of fated love or instant love by showing what happens when you allow yourself to run away with your feelings, especially when you are super young. Shakespeare never (in my opinion) intended for R&J to be the greatest love story ever told, but a true tragedy to show what happens when you act without thinking based on extreme feelings and what happens when no one listens (teens didn't listen to parents and each family did not listen to each other.)

My brother likes that interpretation too, but I must admit I'm not convinced. Romantic love in general used to be depicted as an instant, all-consuming thing (and sometimes still is, of course). I'm not sure this play had a deep message - I kind of think Shakespeare just wanted to tell a tragic love story. Call me cynical :)

Scott I agree I think the play Romeo & Juliet is possibly the best of all skakespeare´s work because of the way it´s planned out.And because of all the romance it had in less then a week.

Vinwolfsjhumanitas.Org Yes I agree with this because the love they have for each other and they are willing to die fir each other for dumb reasons.

Joseph Ponce I agree with you because the style of poetry that is in the story is magnificent. The story has a nice plot and has a good resolution. So the story is great.

Lizzeth Lopez I respectfully disagree with you when you think the love between the two teenager is not as interesting because the whole story was about that and it is a plot twits in how it ends with a different way which it made the love between Romeo and Juliet suspense.

Aimee I agree with your first statement about the language and style but I have to say that I respectfully disagree with your statement about the extreme burst of instalove , that's what this play was all about. The tension between Romeo and Juliet make it more suspense and make it more interesting .

Nelson Ferrufino Orellana yo digo que es buen libro
