** spoiler alert ** Recommendation from Mariah.

A cut above the normal chick-lit (with me, a 3 is as high as I'll usually go for Chick-Lit)
Passed my writing tests (I just want folks to use good grammar, etc.) It's about a single woman recovering from some bad crap that happened at work. She's a lawyer with four godchildren - as a single female lawyer with 6 nieces & nephews and several godchildren, I can relate.
The story follows her relationships with the godchildren, their parents, and a "kind-of" ex-flame. It comes to a head when one set of parents is killed in a car accident and the protagonist is tasked with ensuring the dead friend's mother do not raise the children.
It's an enjoyable book - I think the author could have gotten to the accident more quickly to spend more time on the dilemma. I also think a few more characters would have been okay - the multiple relationships made it challenging for any single relationship to be fleshed out.
I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more by this author.
