really liked it

Book 3 in this series, Cherise Sinclair writes of a woman whose submissive nature continues to involve her in the BDSM world inspite of a sadistic husband from whom she has flown. Not only did she need to find a way to cope with the abuse and severe pain/injuries, she finds that all her emotional responses have also been shut down. She comes to Club Shadowlands and in spite of her willingness she does not find an effective Dom until Master Nolan is asked to take her in hand. Beth is so damaged and so injured emotionally as well as physically, that she calls forth all of Master Nolan's protective instincts. By his relentless assault on the walls she has built around her feelings and responses, he seeks to put her back in touch with others around her, but most of all, with herself. A very troubling novel but so sensitively written. Nolan is a big, brusque, former CIA operative who scares Beth to death, but beneath his rough exterior she discovers a caring man with a heart of gold.
