5 "MAYHEM" stars!! Totally wish I could give it more!!



Part I: The Falling was everything I found typical of this series. Aside from McLean's incredible prose, we get her well-thought out and in-depth character development and plot.

There was pain. So much pain. I hurt for Riley. Her grief felt tangible and was completely realistic. The author has a knack for creating personable characters and Riley and Dylan are no exceptions.

There were laughs. So many laughs. I can't even count how many parts gave me the giggles. Whether it was the banter between Dylan and Riley or the interactions with The Crew, there was never a dull moment.

There was strength, perseverance, forgiveness, love, and hope.

Part II: The Breaking freaking broke me! It broke my heart and then glued it back together. Grief is so consuming. Dylan was drowning in feelings of loss, helplessness, anger, guilt, and depression. While he was hurting everyone, I was hurting for him. I ached for both him and Riley and the hurdles they seemed to have to constantly surmount. Their journey was at once excruciatingly painful and amazingly beautiful. Their love, and the love and support of their family and friends, helped them through the worst patches of their lives. Gosh, their support network was freaking awesome!!

I loved how the author introduced notes of levity throughout the story. Gosh the guys were freaking amazing as ever!! I love them all (Jake, Logan, Cam and Dylan). The humour allowed me to feel deeply without getting lost in the fog. It allowed for both tears and laughter, sometimes at the same time.

I loved everything about this book. The jars, the letters, the texts (even Dylan's awkward ones), the calls, the friends, the families, and I deeply appreciated everything else in between.



This book is definitely one of 2016's best and I recommend it to EVERYONE!!
