Minli, a poor village girl, sets off on a quest to improve her family's fortune. Minli's voyage is similar to Dorothy's journey through Oz, with a dash of fairy tale magic. The physical book itself is a work of art that includes fabulous storytelling and breathtaking artwork patterned after traditional Chinese art forms. This book is well worth reading, and would make an excellent family reading time choice.
