The author focuses on what is like to be overweight, both physically and mentally. She chronicles the gastric bypass she eventually has (including significant complications), but does not focus on the weight loss and limits the discussion of how she feels to lose weight to a chapter or two at the end. The book is not really chronological, but focuses on areas where being morbidly obese was hard (three weddings and how being fat was hard; how being fat was hard as a mom; etc) and I found the story line a little hard to follow, but not too troublesome--I would have preferred a chronological summary of how her obesity came to finally take its toll.
