** spoiler alert ** Genre: books made from movies, retelling of classic tales
Summary: Danielle is a poor orphaned girl who suffers from a domineering, jealous stepmother and two (well, one really) stepsisters. Danielle dresses up as a courtier to save one of her servant friends, runs into the crown prince of France, sparks fly and for the rest of the book, she is torn between telling him the truth or keeping him away from the clutches of Marguerite and her stepmother. In the end, her prince charming brings back her slipper and they live happily ever after.
Response: This novelization was funny. Somehow, books just let you more into the mindset of the characters than movies do. If the author wanted to really make the book her own, she could have put more intent behind the actions. Still, it was an interesting read. I already had seen the movie, so I didn't have to worry about the ending. Of course, any story entitled "A Cinderella Story" you can be pretty sure that it will end a certain way.
