I could not make friends with this book. I'm afraid is has to do with my lack of religion. It's so difficult for me to empathise with these deeply religious people who have more or less abandoned reason and draw in God in every big or small decision they ever make. Also, I believe, I find it difficult to understand people who choose to live and die in a remote village in Iowa.
I'm not blind to Robinson's qualities as a writer and a conjurer of interesting milieux and minds.
