This was a good read, although long, and there were times when my interest in it faded. By it's conclusion, though, I was pretty enthralled. The last third of the book makes it hard to put down.

What at first seem to be conflicts within the text reveal themselves later as part of a grand tapestry. Lawrence definitely knew what he was doing, and there's tremendous complexity and depth behind sometimes simple prose.
