** spoiler alert ** I would really give it a 2.75. I found the radical, religious mother to be annoying and I wasn't fond of the lesbian tendencies of the girl. I have gay friends...I just don't want to read about it. However, I could relate to the feeling of not belonging and wanting something better. THAT is a universal theme and more realistic than the rantings of the young girl's mother and church. That was just plain weird.
