really liked it
bookshelves: committee, historical-fiction, great-for-kids

In reading the dust jacket after I was halfway finished reading the book, I was surprised to find out that this book was originally written in Swedish and that the four books about these sisters was turned into a very popular 8 part tv series in Sweden. It definitely did not read to me like a book that was translated. Most translated books are somewhat choppy and this one flowed beautifully.

I found the book to be well thought out and the characters to be multi-layered, especially the supporting characters such as Aunt Marta and Vera. It was definitely well written and I enjoyed it. I am not sure it's a great pick for the committee, however. I will look for the tv series to see if I can find it.
