The Pearl was a very interesting story in my opinion. I think it's cool how the story was about one conflict (Kino trying to find money to cure his son Coyotito from a scorpion bite) but then when something good seemed to come out of something bad (finding a pearl that is worth a lot of money, just in time of luck), it led to something even more drastic (The pearl is "Cursed" because of all the bad that's racked up upon Kino's family). I would say the message of this story is to be wise and not take advantage of something, or else it can get real ugly.
