Little Town on the Prairie brings a transformation to the series. The writing is definitely aimed at young adults, if not adult adults, and with it comes a more sophisticated Laura who is maturing and socialising with other people her age. It's a wonderful, gentle book, yet again filled with descriptions that bring the Prairie and De Smet to life in the readers imagination.

The school house scenes with Miss Wilder and Laura "misbehaving" are as always some of the most well drawn parts of the book, but my favourite parts are definitely the descriptions of the Literary evenings, they sound like such fun that I wish I could have taken part!
