liked it

I really liked Petterson's "Out Stealing Horses" so I picked his latest one up. This book has the same beautifully descriptive, reflective imagery in its writing that "Out Stealing Horses" had but lacked the interesting story telling that went along with it. Curse the River of Time is a reflective narration of feelings by a Norwegian man, Arvid, who seemingly has wasted his life and is being divorced, who decides to visit his mother at their summer home in a small Danish seaside town. His mother has gone there to recapture some memories after having been diagnosed with cancer. Arvid had become the "blacksheep" disappointment to his mother in comparison to his deceased older brother and the two never had a close relationship. His visit fails to change anything other than he now seems to understand where things went wrong.
