it was amazing

I read this years ago at Hunter College. It is, of course, one of the most important books in the history of New York City. I recently reread it in the course of researching my screenplay. I had forgotten just how appallingly racist the written text of this highly-progressive work can seem to the modern reader. Haha! DON'T ANYONE DARE READ THIS WITH 20/20 HISTORICAL HINDSIGHT!!! Look at it in context, and appreciate it properly.
