Pedersen's writing style sometimes seems one step removed from the nitty-gritty of relationship work, but the book includes a list of nine helpful things that couples can do to strengthen their relationship with each other, and it's a solid list, unusual (I think) for including "suffer together," "tap the power of ritual," and "learn to let go" among more common advice to yield to each other and to play together. The best of several nuggets: "What makes a marriage healthy is not the absence of problems or conflicts, but the way we address them." Your spouse is a gift from God to you, Pedersen reminds readers, and she was smart to organize her book as a tripartite look at marriage as a vocation, marriage as a convenant, and marriage as a sacrament.
