Not as funny as /The Corrections/, although I'm the only one of my friends who seemed to think that book was a laugh-riot. I think Franzen has something important to say here about our fear of making the wrong choice making us unhappy with our lives. Unfortunately, the book has some significant flaws in structure and characterization. They didn't really bother me while I was reading the novel, but my book club really tore the book to pieces, and I have to admit they're present. Oh well -- maybe Franzen's next book will be a total masterpiece.
