really liked it

A thought-provoking memoir covering a range of experiences from childhood, trains, and society. It is a very personal book written from the confines of Judt's mind as he suffered from ALS.

January I consider this book as a perfect introduction of his other famous works such as Postwar: A History of Europe Since 1945. And it's a book worth read repeatedly. The virtue he had is no longer highly praised (or valued?) nowadays.
