really liked it
bookshelves: owned-books, print-from-author

The Woods seemed a little slow and wordy when I first started to read it, but that didn't last long. I started to like the characters, despite their flaws, and enjoyed the descriptions of the town and region. I could tell a lot of time went into researching the logging business, unions, the region, and the time frame of the story. The length of the book logs in more than 400 pages so it did take some time for me to read. Geigle includes a bibliography at the end of the novel. He also grew up in this region which I believe helped him put a face to his characters and the region.
