The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
I hated this book but I kept reading it anyway. McCall Smith is trying to write from the point of view of an African woman but he simply can't. There are terrible generalizations about women and men. The dialogues are weak. He is too crude in his depictions. As a white man born and raised in Botswana, he tries to shed light on the experiences of African people and the daily routines of African life. But he totally blows it.
