Hamilton just needs to write faster. This is #3 of the Meredith Gentry books. The second one seemed to be weak on plot—not this one. It’s stuffed full of stuff. Merry is making a deal with the goblins to extend their alliance by bringing any half-sidhe goblins into their sidhe power like she did Kitto. During the negotiations, Kitto’s hand of power manifests to haul his old “owner” through the mirror they’re talking through, and all the magic that got loose at the end of book 2 starts popping up. Rhys can kill with a touch again. Merry gives some of her guards back the powers they once had, and gives others more power than they ever had. The “black cauldron”—which transformed itself into a chalice—returns, coming to Merry in a dream and following her home from it. Nicca’s tattooed wings become real. Doyle has his shape-changing ability return stronger than ever. Just all sorts of things. I had to read it 3 times just so everything that happened could soak in.
