This book has a very interesting historical setting as its background, and a very cool based-on-a-true story hook which is fascinating but it doesn't ever really quite live up to that. And for another thing this book is too long and could have benefited from some edits, particularly in the woeful characters have interior monologues bemoning their lives variety. Just meh, for me.
