it was amazing
bookshelves: read-2016

This is an excellent, excellent book, and well worth its Pulitzer price. It's a heart-wrenching history of a German boy and a French girl, what they were before the war, and where they ended up during it. At times I felt like I was reading non-fiction (in a good way!), that's how close to me their stories crept. I kind of wish I got to knew more about their lives, but at the same time I feel like the amount given to you is just right. It's raw and tough, but the good moments are there to light it up.
