The Magician's Nephew Review
RATING: 4.5 stars
I read this book for the Mid-year #CRAMATHON 2015!
This book was just what I needed. I've been feeling a bit of a slump coming on, and I was craving some fantasy, and this book was just perfect. So perfect that I almost read it in one sitting, then my mum told me to "go outside, for a change, get some air"

I have only seen the movies for The Chronicles of Narnia (CoN), but I believe there is no film of "The Magician's Nephew". This book is the start of CoN, and it perfectly shows the creation of Narnia.
I know Christianity is a major inspiration for this whole series, and this first book is not even subtle about it.
The concept of the Creation of the Earth, as depicted in the Bible, is very much translated almost word for word in the second half of this book (of course with slight plot changes and character changes, because I do believe that "God" was not a singing Lion, and I'm fairly certain you can't grow toffee trees...) This, however, did not bother me, as the elements of fantasy and magic is tossed in there to make a nice enjoyable story. When we first met Queen Jadis, I was hoping she would be kind and fair. But it turns out she's actually the White Witch in the rest of the series... So that's a nice little back story for her (I guess this whole book is a backstory really, considering it really is the creation of Narnia)
Reading the first half of the book, I kept on asking myself if I liked it, and I kept on replying

But it didn't take long (when Aslan arrived) when I did start to really enjoy it.
Fab Aslan be like:

I have to end this review.
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the next one!

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe Review
ACTUAL RATING: 3.75 STARS
I read this book for the #CRAMATHON 2015!
This was a bit of a disappointment for me. After reading The Magician's Nephew, and loving it, I had high hopes for this story which I was already familiar with because I had seen the movie before (quite a few times actually). But I found the story quite slow, and when compared to the movie much less exciting and thrilling.
Nevertheless, I do intend on continuing on with the series.
