bookshelves: supernatural, ya

Book 2 of the Mercy Falls Trilogy, Linger picks up at the happily ever after moment where Shiver left us. Of course, it more complicated than happily ever after, despite Sam and Grace's faithfully loving and refreshingly stable relationship. Mercy Falls is still filled with drama as new wolves have been introduced to the pack, including the chaotic Cole, Sam adjusts to his new human life, Isabel broods over her brother's death and Grace falls ill to a strange, mysteriously wolf-related disease. I enjoyed Linger, almost as much as I did Shiver. Like Shiver, it's slower and smarter than most epic teen romance books, but the cliffhanger ending and somewhat ludicrous behavior of some of the characters (particularly Sam and Grace's denial of the situation at hand) were frustratingly typical of the middle book of a trilogy. With that said, I'm hooked and I'm already eager to read the next book (July, 2011, ugh!).
