it was ok

Having not read the first three books in this series it is hard to accurately rate Mutated for what it truly is. For all the zombie craze there is now, I feel the story was quite typical, even compared to some current TV shows out about the living dead with there being many similarities in some ways.
The main character Richardson is on a mission collecting zombie apocalypse survival stories. Throughout his travels fleeing cities, he meets others along the way, forming a crew that works together to overcome obstacles to take out the new zombie leader that has risen and can control an army of zombies known as “The Red Man.” All the while the group is trying to save Nate; a kid who is near death and holds the key to the zombie vaccine on a flash drive, and the one who eventually continues on with Richardson’s survival project.
There are quite a few slow parts that drag out a little much in this novel making it a slower read; but I would still like to give this novel another chance and check out the first books in this series. Although not very impressive it was still okay for your average zombie tale and the exciting parts were well written.
