it was amazing
bookshelves: 2015

This book ... I just ...
I devoured it. Adored it.
I have to start this by mentioning that the cover and blurb may be a bit misleading. I'm only noting this because some people might assume the forbidden aspect automatically puts it into a raunchy category. In that sense, it is not what it seems. I'd hate for people to pass it up for that reason and miss a truly fantastic book.
I went in knowing that, but I really didn't know much else. I was blown away, thoroughly. The writing is phenomenal. I connected with the characters and was instantly drawn to the depth of their lives and emotions. And the plot is filled with many elements also, rounding it perfectly.
Okay, so onto the twist ...
Did it catch me off guard? Absolutely. Did it ruin the story for me? No way. It's astonishing. I got over the shock pretty fast and was mentally clapping for Jenni Moen's creativity. It could have been a pretty straightforward HEA--it would have been great that way too--but this took it to a whole new level of storytelling. It was so much more.
