really liked it
bookshelves: 20th-and-21st-century-american-lit

Dean Hughes writes very well. And I admire a male author who can capture his female character's thoughts and perspectives with a fair amount of respectful, true-sounding understanding instead of resorting to portrayals of trite misunderstandings and vanities. Ole Edvart Rolvaag is the only other male author I've found who could do this, though there are likely more somewhere out there.
